July 3
On the third and last day of the battle, the Confederates were bloodily beaten back in a series of failed attacks. The major points of this day were the loss of a terrible amount of men in Pickett's Charge, and subsequent Confederate retreat. This day marked the furthest the Confederacy had ever penetrated into the North. The farthest point of the stone wall where they had managed to reach was called the High Water Mark of the Confederacy. This day devastated the Confederate army.
