Cemetery Ridge
The importance of Cemetery Ridge in the Battle of Gettysburg is immense. This was the primary Union line of defense, and although the Confederates tried to get through, they were unable. Cemetery Ridge is a landform that offers some natural protection from bullets. This ridge was the scene of many turning points of the battle, witnessing events such as Pickett's Charge. This geographic landform was about 2 miles long and at points 20-40 feet high.
